My Role
Production Management Intern
One of the opportunities I had as a production management intern was to occasionally lead the daily stand up meeting for the entire team. While facilitating the daily stand-up meeting I was responsible for taking notes on all of the action items that needed to be addressed and then help schedule and follow up on meetings regarding the action items.
Daily Stand-up
During my time at Rogue Factor, I was responsible for creating a Google Sheets document that tracked the development of both design features and art assets. Although the team utilized a tracking software called Phabricator, my document offered a quick visual update that was beneficial for the team. After my internship ended, I was informed that the team continued to use the document until the project's release, which occurred two years later.
Develop Tracking Documentation
One challenge I faced during my internship was a language barrier. In the 30-member team I worked with, half of the members spoke only French, and I didn’t know any French. Fortunately, some of them had a basic understanding of English, which allowed us to communicate to some extent without needing a translator. During the stand-up meetings I facilitated, I had to navigate these language barriers. To improve my communication with the team members, I took the initiative to learn basic French. This effort enabled me to document all the critical information needed for our projects more effectively during our stand-up meetings.
Overcoming Language Barriers
Since Necromunda: Underhive Wars is set in the Warhammer 40K universe, we met regularly with our publishing company, Focus Home Interactive, to ensure we adhered to the intellectual property guidelines. This involved verifying the accuracy of art assets and providing regular updates on the development process. Although I did not actively participate in the meetings, I attended to observe and take notes on professional interactions with a publishing studio, as well as to understand the processes necessary for effective collaboration.
